What are Renderings and Why Do You Need Them? We're Glad You Asked...

It's not an understatement to say that renderings changed my life! Being able show and communicate my ideas visually with clients was a gamechanger. Clients can virtually walk into their new home via a computer screen. This helps clients and designers to make changes before they become costly changes during installation.

The Basics of WHAT a Rendering Is and Isn't

Renderings are computer generated images of a designed room with color and textures to represent the proposed design to clients. Many designers use programs that capability to produce floorplans and flat elevation of walls but some put all that information together into a 3D picture. We are able to "place" a camera anywhere in room and show different angles or "walk" around the space. The technology has gotten very advanced and very realistic; however, renderings do not replace the specific detailed drawings needed for installation. They are meant to give a conceptual view of the space and may not always display the specific products that the project requires.

The Situations WHEN a Rendering is Helpful

All our clients enjoy seeing their space before it gets done. Kitchens in particular are a huge investment and having a sample door in hand is not enough to evoke the vision. A rendering of a kitchen in different colors can be a gamechanger for a client looking for a change. In some cases, the conceptual nature of a rendering is enough for the beginning stages of a project to establish the vision and direction in the style but detailed, elevations, or shop drawings of custom items will be more accurate.

HOW Renderings Impact the Design Process

We use renderings from the beginning of a project. During concept design phase, it helps us get the big idea across and get confirmation from client on the direction of project. From there, during Design Development, we make changes, adjustments and can even upload the textures from the actual items we are incorporating into the space.

The Reasons WHY Renderings Benefit You

One of the biggest benefits is saving the client's money, especially when doing something bold or outside the box. The client can confidently invest in a project having a visual of the end product. It also saves time in revisions by removing the guesswork when can't picture their space differently that it is now.

What is your next project that you would like to see come to life? The renderings in our design process help transforming dreams into reality go much more smoothly.
